Condition Report & Provenance
History
Vallauris, situated in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France, has been an important pottery manufacturing centre since Roman times, growing renowned in the 19th and early 20th centuries for its flameproof earthenware culinary vessels (*poterie culinaire*). Potteries like Chabert & Ramo specialized in wheel-thrown, partially glazed terracotta pots made for cooking and preserving before the mid-20th-century artistic revival brought to the region by Pablo Picasso and the Madoura workshop.
