History
Tabletop easel frames of this form were widely produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries across Europe for displaying cabinet photographs, portrait miniatures, and small works on paper. Designed to adapt to changing domestic interiors, these dual-purpose frames allowed collectors to display prized images either as freestanding tabletop accents on desks and mantels or hung in decorative wall arrangements.
